Destination Wedding Styling

Posted on

Sun, sea, sand and 12 metres of white silk is not an ideal combination but every year over $16 billion is spent on destination weddings.   Not all will be at a beach location but the popularity of getting married in the sun is growing and this provides a clothing dilemma.   I got married in August in Cyprus and so know the predicament of dressing for 30 degree temperatures!    I started off all sensible saying I would have a slim-fitted lightweight dress but then got tempted by a huge princess gown and short bridesmaid dresses turned into long champagne numbers that looked amazing with a suntan!   When we were designing our bridesmaid dress range we did take into consideration the weight of the fabric and the cut of the dresses so that they would be suitable for destination weddings.   We also have a perfect colour palette for your sunshine day whether it is sea inspired blues/greens or sunshine inspired yellows, please just contact us to discuss your perfect colour.

The men I found particularly tricky wanting them to stand out as part of the wedding party but conscious they would be wilting in suits.    We therefore went for waistcoats, cravats and short sleeve shirts, ensuring the men looked smart but kept them cool without the jacket.    I hunted everywhere for waistcoats with champagne silk backs and eventually compromised for nude coloured backs, if only we had created Matchimony back then!   All of our waistcoats have silk backs that perfectly match the bridesmaid dresses and so can be worn without jackets and look coordinated and smart.

We love to hear about your wedding plans and so whether you are planning a destination wedding on a beach, in a vineyard or up a mountain please get in touch and let us help you style your perfect day.

 Lots of Love
