Fashion Impacts

Reflection on a chaotic February and does the madness of International Fashion Weeks, The Oscars and The Brits have any real effect on Wedding trends?

After all the hype settled we were left pondering in the Matchimony office what we really learnt from this year’s fashion weeks and award ceremonies – apart from the obvious, don’t do your cape up too tight! The Oscars and Brits both highlighted the continuing trend towards pale and nude tones. Nicknamed “50 shades of Pale” we loved the sweet shades that Jennifer Anniston, Gwyneth Paltrow and Zoe Saldana all rocked at the Oscars, showing how versatile nude and pink shades are whatever your hair colour and complexion.

Our Pale Pink, Soft Cream and Champagne fit this trend so well and provide a perfect colour scheme for a Spring/Summer wedding. They can be mixed and matched to provide a gorgeous blush colour palette or match your whole wedding party in one of the colours to create a unified look.

From Paloma Faith and Taylor Swift to Madonna, everyone was feeling a bit bolder this side of the Atlantic at the 2015 Brit Awards with flashes of red being the main highlight. Striking red accents provide a bold and classy backdrop for a wedding in any season. Red was also popular on the catwalks with Vivienne Westward’s “Red Label” and J W Anderson both using red as one of the main colours of the season.

We are not convinced by the fire engine red that crept into London Fashion Week but know that our Deep Red has been a big hit since Matchimony launched and is a colour that is requested all year round.

So all this trend talk has caused a flurry of activity in the Matchimony office with new fabric in Teal, Burnt Orange, Aubergine and White all being sourced ready to be launched later this year in time for Autumn/Winter 2015. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us at hello@matchimony.co.uk if you are interested in any of these colours or just want to talk about your perfect wedding shade.
